Ingredients:
  •  boiled rice, approx. one rice bowl per person
  •  various fresh vegetables, e.g. soybeans, spring onions, carrots, oyster mushrooms, green squash, spinach leaves, Chinese cabbage, garlic
  • 1 egg per person (optional)
  • beef fillet, cut into fine stripes (optional)
  • salt, pepper
  • sesame oil and sesame seeds
  • Kochujang Bi-Bim sauce, according to taste
Preparation:
  • Boil the rice in the rice cooker.
  • Cut the various vegetables (according to your choice and season) into fine stripes and fry them one after the other in a little bit of sesame oil, together with some sesame seeds, salt and pepper. Keep each vegetable warm. Leaf vegetable (as e.g. spinach or Chinese cabbage) should  be blanched before in boiling salt water, to make it softer.
  • Bibimbab can be a pure vegetarian dish or it can be served together with finely cut beef fillet, which is fried in the pan or the wok just as the vegetables.
  • Serve Bibimbab for each person in a separate bowl. Traditionally this dish is being served in a boiling-hot iron or ceramic Dolsot pot, which makes the vegetables and rice still boil while being served on the table. However, nowadays it is common to serve Bibimbab in a simple ceramic or china bowl.
  • Place the rice in the middle and arrange the various vegetables and/or meat around the rice in a decorative way. Optionally you can put a fried egg in the middle.
  • Serve this dish together with the Kochujang Bi-Bim sauce, which adds the unique flavour to Bibimbab. Each person can add as much sauce as he/she likes. Mix the sauce with the rice and vegetables and enjoy the delicious taste of this traditional and healthy Korean national dish!
